Property management companies support fight against drugs

Commissioner for Narcotics Mrs Rosanna Ure today (October 8) expressed her gratitude to three property management companies for their assistance in promoting the new Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre (DIC).

Publicity booths will be set up at six shopping malls under the management of Swire Properties Limited, Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency Limited and MTR Corporation Limited.

Mrs Ure said this was possible only through the generosity of these three civic-minded corporations.

Showing their enthusiasm for the anti-drug campaign, senior management of the companies visited the DIC today to see how it operates. The visitors included Director and General Manager of the Swire Properties Limited Mr Jolyon Culbertson, General Manager (Retail Marketing and Customer Relations) of the Sun Hung Kai Real Estate Agency Limited Mr Ho Lick-tin, and Assistant Shopping Centre Manager of the MTR Corporation Limited Miss Suzanne Tam.

Welcoming the visitors, Mrs Ure said the support of the private sector in the anti-drug cause had added impetus to the fight against drugs. She added that the business community was one of the most important allies in the Government's war against drugs. She welcomed the sector's commitment to the anti-drug cause through sponsorship. Mrs Ure hoped that publicity efforts at the shopping malls would attract more visitors to the DIC and so enhance public awareness of the harm caused by drugs.

The DIC is the first exhibition centre dedicated to drug education in Hong Kong and serves as a focal point for drug education activities and disseminating anti-drug message. Situated at the Roof Floor, Low Block, Queensway Offices, 66 Queensway, Hong Kong, the Centre is open from 10am to 6pm daily except Wednesdays.
