District bodies show support for anti-drug cause
Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of the District Councils and the District Fight Crime Committees visited the Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre (DIC) this morning (April 21), showing their strong support for the anti-drug cause.
The Commissioner for Narcotics, Mrs Rosanna Ure, thanked the officials during the visit for their unfailing support for the Government in tackling drug abuse and launching anti-drug activities.
"The anti-drug campaign will not be successful without the concerted efforts of organisations at the district level. I would like to express my gratitude to those who have contributed their efforts in the fight against drug abuse over the years," Mrs Ure said.
"Our goal of developing a drug-free community will be dependent on your continuous support in pressing home the anti-drug message and encouraging young people to lead a healthy life and stay away from substance abuse," she said.
As Hong Kong's first exhibition centre dedicated to drug education, the DIC will be a platform for teachers, parents and anti-drug workers to collaborate in the fight against drug abuse.
"We hope that community organisations, such as District Councils and District Fight Crime Committees, will help us publicise the facility in their respective districts and encourage schools and non-government organisations to make use of the DIC to spread the anti-drug messages," Mrs Ure said.
