A one-day conference exchange of professional experience in helping ex-offenders and drug abusers. Participants will include scholars, officials of correctional and rehabilitation institutions, and social workers from Hong Kong, Macau and China.

Targeted at the female clients of the centre. Participants will attend anti-drug training workshops and camps, then devise their own anti-drug activities for launching in children and youth centres.

A one-and-a-half-day conference to promote exchange and sharing of knowledge and information, and to enhance among the service providers of various drug treatment and rehabilitation agencies.

"Life in My Hand" Youth Project

Activities include anti-drug book reading award and cartoon design contest for students, skills training workshop and expedition training targeted at the at-risk youth of Tuen Mun District.

Against Drug Abuse - Adventure Journey

Targeted at 40 students with low academic achievement and self-esteem in the school. Activities include training workshops, visits to treatment centres adventured journey, group sharing , and production of an anti-drug feature.

To organize a series of healthy activities for the high-risk youth of Tuen Mun District, including vocational training, hair-cutting course, football training and football match, sportsmanship award scheme, adventured sea course, canoe training course , visit, self-esteem development, outward bound, etc.

Getting a Healthy Life

To employ 1 SWA and 1 WW to organize a series of activities for youths of Southern District , including adventure-based outdoor activities, visits, exhibitions, surveys, colour-filling and slogan contests. Will co-ordinate with the H.K. Council on Smoking and health and the Advisory Council on AIDs to conduct talks and workshops.

Counselling Female Drug Abusers - Videotape Demonstrations and Supplementary Resource Kit

To produce a set of video tape and resource kit to serves as educational and training materials for drug educators.

School Based Beat Drugs Activities

To organize a series of activities including anti-drug basketball competition, camping, talks, quiz, workshops, games day, card design competition, etc, for the F.1 students of the applicant.

Grow in Happy and Healthy Way

Targeted at students of the applicant. Activities include lecture on healthy diet, drama / essay writing / bookmark/slogan/poster competitions, civic education on drug problem, social studies on smoking problem, adventure-based counselling and training , "Star of the month" competition etc.

Creation of New Generation - Youth Development Project

Targeted at 100 at-risk youths of Ngau Tau kok District. Activities include adventured and experiential training, counselling workshops, volunteer services and a self-training award scheme.

To produce 550 animated cartoon compact discs for interactive classroom lessons, coupled with teachers' resource packs and students' worksheets for follow-up sessions, and to purchase 2 vehicles for service delivery.

Anti-drug Abuse Campaign

Targeted at students of the applicant school. Activities include calendar card design and slogan competitions, an interactive drama performance, and productin of an anti-drug cassette tape.

Say No to Drugs - Drama Competition and Carnival

To organize a series of drama workshops , drama contest and drama roving performance for the youth of Tues Mun District. Other activities include talks, case studies and visits to drug detoxification centres.

Find Your Way Without Taking Drugs

Targeted at secondary school students of Sham Shui Po District . Activities include exhibition cum game stalls in schools, and visits to drug treatment centres.

Anti-drug Task Force Community Education Programme (III)

Targeted at at -risk youths. Phase I will focus on healthy recreational and sports activities such as football, basketball snooker, karaoke, stop-smoking group, exhibition and quiz. Phase I participants will be encouraged to take part in Phase II activities including adventure and life- skills training and creative street drama . Phase III is the performance of street drama and variety show by Phase II participants.

Anti-Drug Music Competition - Workshop, Sharing, Award Presentation and Music Performance

To organze music training workshops for youths, followed by an anti-drug lyric competition and concert. A VCD for the winning entries will be produced for distribution to schools and youths organization.

New Life

To employ 1 ASWO and 1 SWA to organize a series of anti-drug programmes for youths of Yuen Long District, including adventure club, counselling students and parents workshops, sharing session between teachers and social workers, seminars, carnival, painting competition , quiz, and visits to drug treatment centres.

Victory Over Self-Evil

Targeted at at-risk youths of Kwai Tsing District. Ex-drug abusers will be trained to form 2 teams of Beat Drugs Ambassadors to conduct sharing sessions in schools.

Anti-Drug Project 1999

A drug education day with health check and exhibition, and a drug education camp with role-play and sharing sessions will be held for the at-risk youth. A survey by questionnaire will be conducted to assess the programmes' effectiveness.

Effective Slackening Chemical Abuse by Parental Effort (Escape)

Targeted at the applicant's students and their families. Activities include parents' talks, anti-drug message calendar, calendar cards, family camp, Healthy Sundays, talks for students' fathers, carnival, etc.

To organize a series of activities in East New Territories including lyrics/ drawing / basketball/ drama competitions and a youth health ambassador programme targeted at general youths, seminars for parents, and an adventured based programme " Drug Terminator" for high risk youths.

Good Lives Without Drug - Anti-Dug Community Project

Activities for at-risk youths include an awards scheme, APIs contest, sharing session. Other community activities include the production of anti-drug leaflets, visits to parent-teacher associations and MACs build up drug preventive networks. 1 ASWO will be employed to implement the programme.

Job Skills Training project for rehabilitated Drug Abusers (2nd year)

To fund the operation of the Pui Hong Job Skill Training Centre for another year. The Centre commenced operation as a pilot funded by the Beat drugs Fund in August 1998, with objectives to provide job seeking skills and guidance to rehabilitated drug abusers. The project plans to expand the services to the re4ady-for-discharge drug abusers.

Renovation Works at Enchi Lodge

To fund the improvement works to the Enchi Lodge including replacement of power supply facilities, repairing the ceiling of the kitchen, reconstruction of the western enclosing wall and replacement and installation of 9 air-conditioners.

To meet the cost of improvement works to the kitchen and associated noodle workshop of Dawn Island Drug treatment Centre.

Families Supportive programme

To meet the staff cost of 1 Assistant Social Work Officer and 1 Social Work Assistant for 2 years . The project aims to provide programmes steering to the needs of the family members of the residents who are undergoing drug treatment and rehabilitation service. It also focuses on strengthening residents' supportive network so as to facilitate their rehabilitation during and after their discharge.

Work Employment Programme for Adolescent Drug Abusers

To fund the setting up of a job-training centre to provide prevocational job-skill training and job counselling services to the male drug abusers of the agency. It aims to lead the adolescent drug abusers to ultimate rehabilitation through participation into high-technology, innovation and productive work.
