A Pioneering Longitudinal Study of the Development and Validation of a Drug Prevention Programme in Hong Kong

To conduct a research on the effectiveness of anti-drug prevention programme which is tailor made for youth at risk. A full set of operational manuals including training and resource guides and programme manuals will be produced.

Development of a Local Drug Abuse Treatment Outcomes Measure

To develop the Chinese Addiction Treatment Outcomes measures for all types of drug treatment and rehabilitation service. This research is intended to provide a universal tool to measure the effectiveness of anti-drug service in Hong Kong and a benchmark normative treatment outcomes data for future reference.

"Try No Drugs" Project

Targeted mainly at ex-drug abusers, drug abusers and occasional drug abusers in North District. Activities include a series of intensive anti-drug programmes such as seminars, adventure training and exhibition.

Kwan Tong Anti-Drugs Student Ambassadors Scheme

To organize anti-drug ambassador schemes for kindergartens, primary & secondary schools in Kwun Tong District.

"Leap over the Rainbow" Anti-drug Project

To organize training courses, camps, outdoor activities, visits and publish anti-drug booklets mainly for resident girls of the agency.

Away From Drugs have a Healthy Life

To organize a series of activities including sports competitions and musical competitions, carnivals, adventure training and volunteer training aiming to promote a healthy lifestyle amongst F.1 to F.5 students of the school.

Y2K Youth Project

To organize exhibition, seminar, competitions, adventure training and job-skill training targeting at 279 high risk youths, 4000 secondary school students and 2,000 members of the public in Tuen Mun.

Anti-Drugs Campaign 2000

To produce 20 episodes of drama series and 20 episodes of inter-school anti-drug quiz competition to be broadcast on the Children channel of Cable TV.

Face Off

To educate 2000 high risk youth, general youth and public in Tuen Mun on the adverse effects of drug through a series of programmes including drama training, adventure training, visits and drama performance.

To organize training camps to F.1 to F.2 students who are mostly band 5 on personal development & promotion of positive values and arrange sharing sessions in ten schools to convey anti-drug messages.

Be Sure in 2000

To organize drug prevention program such as basketball competitions, training camps, exhibition & quiz for about 1,000 students of the applicant school.

Anti-drug Roving Exhibition

To organize ten roving exhibitions to publicize the harmful effects of drug abuse targeted at construction sites and blue collar workers.

Dream, Art , You Project (DAY Project )

To launch a series of activities including health checks, visits, camps, arts training and homepage production targeting occasional substance abusers, high-risk youth, general youth and the public in Kwun Tong District.

Seminars for Doctors to help Beat Drugs

To organize a one-day seminar for150 doctors to promote their awareness of the drug abuse problem and to produce 9,500copies of resource book.

Knowing the Defects of Drugs and Get Rid of Them

To organize various activities such as exhibitions, talks, visits and colour - filling , slogan and photo competitions targeting 150,000 youths and women.

Mentoring Program

A two year project aiming to train up a group of volunteers as mentors to match with high-risk youths in Tai Po and North Districts on a one-to-one basis and to provide them with coaching and support.

Enhance the Storming Youth to Strive for Betterment

To run drug preventive programme including ball games, karaoke competition, adventure training, band training and a variety show. Targeted at high-risk youth and substance abusers in Tin Shui Wai.

Re-living : Community Drug-wise Educational Programme

To renovate the agency's premises at Nam Chung to be used as a drug education and training centre. Activities include seminars, visits, training camps, exhibitions and workshops. Targeted at about 2,400 high-risk youth, substance abusers and students in New Territories particularly Yuen Long, Tai Po and north districts.

Say No to Drugs !

To organize a series of activities such as competitions , adventure-based training camps, ambassadors scheme, visits, exhibitions and carnival. Targeted at 19,437 primary and secondary school students and the public in Kwun Tong District.

Hand-in-hand, Beat Drugs Together- Beat Drugs Volunteer Corps Movement

To launch a territory-wide "Beat Drugs Volunteers Corps Movement". Beat Drugs Volunteer Corps targeting youth of 6-21 will be formed at district level. The team will provide health care talks and program skills training to Corps members who will organize community education programs to educate their peers about negative impact of substance abuse.

Beat Drugs with the Multi-media

To produce video, VCD and teaching aids based on real case of drug addicts for film show/sharing sessions at schools and social work agencies.

Music Outreaching Team of Anti-drug Education

To form a band from rehabilitated drug abusers and to organize anti-drug concerts, song composer competition and sharing sessions with students in districts with high juvenile delinquency rate and the New Towns.

Dropping Out but Not Falling Down

To organize a series of activities including simulation games, counselling and volunteer services, visits, skills training and career talks targeted at 120 school dropouts and their parents in Eastern District.

A Healthy Linkage

To launch a series of drug prevention programmes targeted at 852 marginal youths in Tuen Mun including survey, sports competition, adventured based training, leadership training and life-skill training.

Mobile Adventure Activities Centre

To set up a mobile adventure activities cetre to conduct adventure-based programmes for general youths and parents.

Art Therapy Treatment Programme

To provide art therapy and medical treatment to substance abusers aiming to enhance their motivation during the detoxification , rehabilitation and relapse prevention phase. Other activities include supportive service to family members of abusers and raining of drug workers and volunteers.

Phase II Project -Reservoirs Upgrading Works Near Shing House at Shek Kwu Chau Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre

To carry out upgrading works for the reservoir near Shing House at Shek Kwun Chau to reinstate its existing capacity. Fresh water system on the Island is entirely independent of the Hong Kong main supplies. Since the sixties, the reservoir beds have been filled up with sand and debris and no upgrading works have been carried out. Water rationing has to be imposed during the dry months.

"Place and Train" Mini-bus Scheme - (Purchase for 16-seat Mini-bus)

To purchase a 16-seat mini-bus to facilitate implementation of the rehabilitation programmes, daily activities and community projects of trainees in Au Tau Youth Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre.

Quality Drug Treatment Service: Training and supporting Programs for Persons involved in Gospel Drug Treatment Service

To organize two certificate courses for non-social work staff working at Gospel Drug Treatment Centre aiming to equip them with knowledge and skills in working with drug addicts in residential setting.
