Preventive Education Programmes organised by the Narcotics Division

Drug Education Programme
The Narcotics Division commissions non-governmental organisations to give drug education talks to primary school students, students of English Schools Foundation (ESF)/international schools and non-Chinese speaking students.

The drug education talks, with different versions for students in different levels, mainly covers:

common drugs liable to abuse and their harmful effects;
reasons for drug abuse;
refusal skills;
sharing session with rehabilitated persons.

Visit to Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre

The Drug InfoCentre is a permanent exhibition hall dedicated to drug prevention. It is a 900m2 exhibition hall and comprises of two levels. The first level contains the major exhibition area with the content organiser of Host, Agent and Environment as the umbrella support for objects, graphics and audiovisual/multimedia. The second level contains the interactive theatre, multipurpose classroom, reference library, info cafe and temporary exhibition area.

The Narcotics Division provides a two-hour guided tour and drug education programmes to schools / institutions and organisations etc, including:

=>  guided tour - strengthening drug knowledge and harms of drug through exhibits and facilities in the Centre
=>  drug education activities - enhancing anti-drug messages and refusal skills through worksheets, games and discussions.

Different groups of people, including students of primary schools, secondary schools and universities, uniform groups, teachers, social workers and parents visiting the Drug InfoCentre.
Achievement in 2011
conducted 776 programmes of school talks and visits to the Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre (DIC) for 96,072 students of 542 schools;
distributed anti-drug publicity leaflets to students;
conducted 234 talks, seminars and visits to DIC for 15,287 persons from various uniform groups, parent-teacher associations, youth centres, teachers, social workers and other community organisations to enhance their knowledge on drugs.

Preventive Education Programmes provided by the Social Welfare Department

The Social Welfare Department subvents eleven Counselling Centres for Psychotropic Substance Abusers to provide drug education talks to secondary school students. For details, please refer to the following list:
