Federation of Parent Teacher Association in Kwun Tong District Limited A Healthy Harmonious and Caring Campus – Start with Appreciation

Thirty schools in Kwun Tong District will provide different anti-drug activities to students and parents, including training seminars for helping students develop critical thinking towards drug abuse issues and parent and teacher anti-drug training seminars. Intensive coaching and case work will also be offered to high-risk students who have dropped out from schools.

Hong Kong Comics and Animation Federation CHOICE – A Participative Beat Drugs Life Stories Development Campaign with Motion Comics

Anti-drug story writing contest will be organised and the best entries will be made into motion comics, which will be broadcast on the Internet and smartphone platform. A resource kit for interactive classroom teaching will also be produced.

Pak Tin Catholic Primary School Hugs Not Drugs

To raise students' awareness about the harm of drugs, a series of activities will be held including development of school-based personal growth curriculum, anti-drug student ambassador training, video and poster design competitions, Drug InfoCentre visits and parent talks to convey anti-drug messages.

Youth Outreach – School of Hip Hop Training Scheme for Dancing Assistants

Hip Hop dance training and life-value courses will be organised for high-risk youths to encourage their participation in healthy activities. Public performance opportunities will be arranged for participants to demonstrate their skills and build up their self-confidence. Further training will be provided for students who wish to pursue dancing as their career, and they will share their transformation experience with others.

Horticultural therapy will be provided to female ex-drug abusers so as to enhance rehabilitees' general life skills and self-esteem, and improve their relationship with the family members through joint sessions.

Division of Paediatric Surgery & Paediatric Urology, Department of Surgery, The Chinese University of Hong Kong A Targeted Urological Treatment Program for Secondary School Students Abusing Psychotropic Substance and a Territory-wide School-based Survey of Bladder Dysfunction Symptoms Associated with Psychotropic Substance Abuse

The project is comprised of a survey with an aim to reach 40,000 secondary school students to promote adoption of anti-drug attitude and a urological treatment programme to treat hidden youths suffering from bladder dysfunction as a result of psychotropic substance abuse. The survey will also help estimate the prevalence of psychotropic substance abuse among the secondary school students and the prevalence of bladder dysfunction among the substance abusers.

The project will organise a support programme for family members of drug abusers and high-risk youths, with a view to strengthening the resilience of the family members and equip them with skills to help addicted family members quit drugs. Parents will also be mobilized to disseminate preventive messages in the community.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Multi-directional Optimization of Hair Drug Testing Platform: Rehabilitation Services Support for Local communities

The grantee will optimise an existing hair drug testing platform by reducing sample amount, lowering running cost and testing time as well as seeking accreditation of the hair-drug testing platform. The cut-off value for ketamine detection in hair will also be determined.

The grantee will provide a series of drug prevention and support services for transportation industry, especially drug abusing drivers and their families. Drivers' awareness on the harmful effects of drug abuse on driving will be raised and hidden drug-abusing drivers will be motivated to seek help.

Creative media training to young drug rehabilitees will be provided to prepare them for further training in information technology. This territory-wide project will provide outreach services to hidden female drug abusers in night clubs and online hidden drug abusers. Counselling and rehabilitation services will be offered to enhance their motivation to quit drugs. This project will develop and evaluate a secondary screening-intervention package to help tackle drug abuse problems among high-risk secondary students. Students identified will receive a series of life skill training for developing their multiple intelligence and vocational aptitudes. Social workers and mentors will provide follow-up.

Kwai Tsing Safe Community and Healthy City Association The Sunflower Bed

At-risk youth will be preliminarily identified through physical fitness assessment in secondary schools located in Kwai Tsing District and web-based lifestyle questionnaire. Further assessment by social worker, occupational therapist and specialist doctor on their family, physical and mental aspects will be conducted in the QK Blog centre. If required, occupational lifestyle redesign programme for adolescents will be provided to the identified drug users.

The study will examine the evidence of brain damage in a group of chronic ketamine users in Hong Kong. Structural, metabolite and functional abnormalities in the brain and cognitive impairment in chronic ketamine users will be explored.

Hospital Authority Toxicology Reference Laboratory Surveillance of Emerging Drugs of Abuse in Substance Abusers

The grantee seeks to establish a chromatography-based analytical system for the detection of traditional and threatening emerging drugs of abuse. This system will be used for surveillance of drugs of abuse in drug abusers and high-risk individuals.
