| Activity Brief: | “Walk together with love” animal assisted intervention youth group was organised by the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Tuen Mun Integrated Services Centre in collaboration with the Hong Kong Animal Assisted Therapy Association for the participating school. Students having relatively low motivation to learn and requiring enhancement of self-confidence were recruited. Through a variety of learning topics, such as pet grooming, dog handler skill training and internships in abandoned animal shelters, young people could understand the situation of stray and abused animals in Hong Kong. These activities not only facilitated young people to reflect on the value of life so that they can learn to appreciate themselves and not to give up easily, but also enhanced young people’s sense of responsibility and self-efficacy, and help them establish a more positive identity.
