The New Generation in Beating Drug - Training Programme for Social Work Students
Project Approved in 2010 (R1)
The knowledge and skills of social work students will be enhanced through this project. Workshops on addiction counselling and case-practice, seminars and interflow activities between students and frontline practitioners from China, Taiwan and Macau will be provided in the project. Practice resource directory for social work students will be made.
DIAMOND- DIAlogue‧MObile‧No Drugs: a beat-drugs mobile mentor project

Mobile technologies and new electronic media will be employed for secondary prevention. The project will engage high-risk youth by using mobile dialogue platform so as to enter their world and assert positive influence and convince them to quit drugs. The system will be operated by a group of rehabilitated youth and social workers.

The grantee will spread anti-drug messages to high risk youth, parents and community members. Participants will be referred from secondary schools and they will join an adventure camp. A visit to drug treatment and rehabilitation centre will be arranged. Participants will join a volunteer training camp, engage in the production of community resource kit and organisation of an anti-drug forum with community members. The grantee will also arrange job placement opportunities for young people, direct services and support to the parents of the high risk.
New Era Drug Prevention Education Programme for Secondary Students

The grantee will update two of its lower secondary school anti-substance abuse programmes: “Party Smart” and “Risky Business” with new materials. Participating students will be engaged in a 90-minute class session. A resource kit will be provided to enable the accompanying teachers to conduct follow-up activities after LEAP’s visit.

The school aims at improving students and parents' awareness and knowledge about drugs. The general education and civil education curricula will be revised. School talks for parents and students and an anti-drug volunteer work award scheme will be organised. Visits to HKJC Drug InfoCentre, slogan and art-work competitions, leadership training camp, community carnival and anti-drug drama performance will also be held.
"Family Guardian Angel" Project

This two-year programme targets parents of primary and secondary school students. The programme serves to empower parents by raising their self-efficacy and establishing mutual-support networks among the participants. Interactive website, programmes to strengthen the role of the parents in monitoring and supervising children and increasing parents’ knowledge about drugs will be organised. Parent-leaders will be indentified and they will form a mutual-support network that facilitates wide-spread execution of the programme in various schools.
Educational Tour & Workshop: "Hi! Hi! School Musical"

This programme will spread anti-drug messages through roving musical performances for lower secondary school students, provision of a student theatrical workshop and an anti-drug carnival.

A variety of publicity activities to advocate drug-free life will be organised in Lantau South. The programme includes drug prevention talks, an overnight yachting outreach tour, a parent-child tour to drug treatment and rehabilitation centre, a drama show and an anti-drug carnival.
Beating Drugs in the Rainbow Community

The grantee will provide comprehensive drug prevention education to homosexuals. The grantee will train anti-drug outreach counsellors to identify homosexual youth with drug abuse problems. Through comprehensive engaging activities and network development, the grantee will establish a support group that can assist clients in quitting drugs.
