Anti-drug Education Programmes for Students

The Narcotics Division commissions non-governmental organisations to provide anti-drug education programmes to local primary school students, students in English Schools Foundation (ESF)/International Schools and non-Chinese speaking students.

To suit the needs of respective schools, modules with different contents and modes of delivery are available to teach students the harms associated with drug abuse, and to enhance the resilience of young people against drug abuse. The anti-drug education programmes mainly covers:

  • skills in saying “no” to drugs
  • consequence of involving in drug crimes
  • common drug types and harms associated with drug abuse
  • sharing session by rehabilitated persons
  • enhancement of positive power to face adversity

Visit to Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug InfoCentre

The Drug InfoCentre is a permanent exhibition hall dedicated to drug prevention. It is a 900m2 exhibition hall and comprises of two levels. The first level contains the major exhibition area with the content organiser of Host, Agent and Environment as the umbrella support for objects, graphics and audiovisual/multimedia. The second level contains the interactive theatre, multipurpose classroom, reference library, info cafe and temporary exhibition area.

The Narcotics Division provides a two-hour guided tour and drug education programmes to schools / institutions and organisations etc, including:

=>  guided tour - strengthening drug knowledge and harms of drug through exhibits and facilities in the Centre

=>  drug education activities - enhancing anti-drug messages and refusal skills through worksheets, games and discussions.

Other anti-drug material for schools:

- a library at the Drug InfoCentre equipped with audio-visual aids and a wide variety of drug education and publicity materials
- drug education teaching kits
- exhibition materials
- posters and leaflets

Preventive Education Programmes provided by the Social Welfare Department

The Social Welfare Department subvents eleven Counselling Centres for Psychotropic Substance Abusers to provide drug education talks to secondary school students. For details, please contact the eleven centres.
