Change in Cognitive Function and Biomarkers of Neurotoxicity Following Abstinence of Ketamine: A Prospective Longitudinal Study

The patterns of change in cognitive function and neurotoxical biomarkers in blood sample following abstinence from ketamine will be established in this project. Correlations between these changes will also be explored. The findings of the study will provide useful information about the reversibility of cognitive deficits caused by ketamine abuse.

Thirty schools in Kwun Tong District will provide different anti-drug activities to students and parents, including training seminars for helping students develop critical thinking towards drug abuse issues and parent and teacher anti-drug training seminars. Intensive coaching and case work will also be offered to high-risk students who have dropped out from schools.
CHOICE – A Participative Beat Drugs Life Stories Development Campaign with Motion Comics

Anti-drug story writing contest will be organised and the best entries will be made into motion comics, which will be broadcast on the Internet and smartphone platform. A resource kit for interactive classroom teaching will also be produced.

To raise students' awareness about the harm of drugs, a series of activities will be held including development of school-based personal growth curriculum, anti-drug student ambassador training, video and poster design competitions, Drug InfoCentre visits and parent talks to convey anti-drug messages.
No Drugs for Our Families

A variety of activities will be provided to students to raise their anti-drug attitude, including drug treatment and rehabilitation centre visits, news cutting activities, parent-child anti-drug activities and camps as well as sharing by reformed youths.
Peer Education on Prevention of Youth Drug Abuse

A team of health care practitioners and human service professionals will be formed to guide the production of a drug prevention training kit for Red Cross members and peer-educators. Peer-educators will then deliver various activities to spread anti-drug messages in schools and community.
Training Scheme for Dancing Assistants

Hip Hop dance training and life-value courses will be organised for high-risk youths to encourage their participation in healthy activities. Public performance opportunities will be arranged for participants to demonstrate their skills and build up their self-confidence. Further training will be provided for students who wish to pursue dancing as their career, and they will share their transformation experience with others.

"Blossom Heart" – Horticultural Therapy for Young Female Ex-drug Addicts and Their Family Members (Sister Aquinas Memorial Women's Treatment Centre)

Horticultural therapy will be provided to female ex-drug abusers so as to enhance rehabilitees' general life skills and self-esteem, and improve their relationship with the family members through joint sessions.
A Specialized Nurse Clinic for Psychotropic Substance Abusers

A specialist nurse clinic for psychotropic substance abusers will be set up at the Prince of Wales Hospital. Nurses will provide intensive counselling and motivational interviews to psychotropic substance abusers with a view to enhancing treatment outcomes.
