Traditional Chinese Medicine on Urinary Problem

The main purpose of this project is to reduce drug-induced urological symptoms of ketamine abusers who reside in a drug treatment and rehabilitation centre. The project’s ultimate objective is to enable rehabilitees to receive full course of treatment in the residential facilities and improve their self-efficacy to sustain abstinence. Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine will be used.

This project provides training courses on eco-tour guide for rehabilitees of drug treatment and rehabilitation centres and a counselling centre for psychotropic substance abusers in Sai Kung District. Besides vocational training, individual mentorship is provided with a view to monitoring the progress of rehabilitees. The project will provide on-job training and job opportunities for promising participants.

This project aims to raise rehabilitees’ self-efficacy to avoid relapse and strengthen their ability to resist drugs. The project consists of pre-employment training, internship, family support and peer support schemes, etc. Training programme and various support services will equip them with the knowledge and skills in retailing and servicing sector, thereby assisting them to reintegrate into society.
Handy Occupational Therapy Service

This project aims to provide community-based vocational rehabilitation service for rehabilitees referred from the counselling centres for psychotropic substance abusers and the residents in drug treatment and rehabilitation centres. Occupational therapists will provide vocational assessment, counselling and rehabilitation service to the targeted drug abusers. Educational activities and onsite advice on case management will be provided to staff of treatment and rehabilitation facilities to strengthen collaboration with hospital staff to assist drug abusers.
Community Based Recovery & Support Program for the South Asians in Yuen Long

This project targets the ethnic minorities in Yuen Long with a view to identifying and engaging drug dependent persons in drug detoxification and aftercare services. The aim of this project is to reduce drug use and prevent relapse amongst program participants. Peer counselling, Chinese medical and acupunctural treatment and cognitive-behavioural therapy will be provided to reduce withdrawal symptoms and enhance quitting motivation. Job skills training, support to families of drug dependent persons and other measures will be provided to assist them to reintegrate into the society.
Project of “Marvellous Trip for Resisting Drugs” – Professional Integrated Training Course

Structured anti-drug training programme will be provided to the target groups of social workers, and stakeholders in religious and community setting. The trainings will equip the participants with the knowledge and skills for effective interaction with the at-risk youths in order to identify drug abusers early and provide appropriate counselling and support to them.
Prospective Longitudinal Study on the Treatment Outcomes of Various Treatment Modalities under a Standardized Treatment Protocol in Patients Suffered Ketamine-induced Voiding Dysfunction

Patients will receive medical treatment according to a standardized treatment protocol which is based on literature and clinical experience. The treatment response will be documented throughout the course of treatment. The data will be collected and analyzed to evaluate the treatment response of different treatment modalities in the management of ketamine-induced voiding dysfunction. Potential enhancing and impeding factors for treatment response will also be identified for planning of treatment in future.
Crisis Accommodation for Hidden Young Ketamine Abusers – A Bridge between Treatment and Rehabilitation

The project sets up a specialist-led multi-disciplinary assessment and rehabilitation centre for providing a short-term accommodation in hospital to youth with history of ketamine abuse and support services for their families. There will be intervention by medical and social work professionals during the short-term accommodation. Detailed assessment and intensive psycho-social services would be provided with a view to enhancing the treatment outcomes.
